A young elephant called Tuffi made the suspension monorail world-famous. On July 21, 1950, for a Circus Althoff visit, Tuffi boarded a train as an advertising gimmick. We don't know if she felt trapped or not, but after only a short ride she had enough. She burst through the side of the carriage and took into freedom, landing in the Wupper River. Tuffi bruised her bottom and gained worldwide fame. A monorail suspension and a bus can be obtained from the ticket machines at each station of the monorail suspension or the bus driver. If you're discovering the city all day, you can look for day tickets or group tickets (up to 5 people).
