Wonderful waterfalls, rambling streams, monstrous trees. It starts with a lot of paved trail, which was worrisome, but it goes away to dirt and rock soon. Not very many wet spots, but I could imagine it getting muddier if there's been more rain. It doesn't take long to get to the first waterfall (Wahkeena). This was actually the prettiest in my opinion. The bright white water against the lush green was striking. The incline is quick and intense but not overly difficult. Lemmons Viewpoint is worth the stop, but there are some other nice openings over the gorge along the way. Keep an eye out for chipmunks and eagles. Some pretty flowers on the path, too. We skipped Devil's Rest Summit (heard it's disappointing), but the highest point of the hike right there at mid-morning was pretty breathtaking. Tall trees and completely golden from the sunlight breaking through (pictures couldn't capture it). The trail going down is much rockier but not bad. Worth stopping by the water near Weisendanger Falls. When you approach Multnomah, it gets shockingly busier.
