Shop at Amsterdam’s Flower Market

Amsterdam’s Flower Market is a renowned icon on the Singel canal, at the heart of the city’s UNESCO-listed Canal Ring. Flower market The Amsterdam Flower Market is the only floating flower market in the world, and one of the most fragrant places of interest of Amsterdam - in all seasons.

The flower stalls stand on the houseboats and evoke the old days when the market was daily supplied by boat.

Rain or shine, this stretch of the Singel canal in the city centre is filled with the vibrant colours and fragrances of fresh flowers every Monday to Saturday – serving tourists and locals alike.

The Bloemenmarkt, founded in 1862, is promoted by the Dutch tourist board as a world-famous attraction within the Unesco-listed canal ring.

As well as the floral treats in the Flower Market, the barges are joined by a host of gift shops. Keychains, wooden tulips and postcards are also plentiful around the Flower Market, while other thoughtful gifts can be found in the Christmas Palace.

And cinema fans can’t afford to miss out on the Pathé Tuschinski movie theatre, with its opulent Art Deco stylings, detailed decorations and a grand hall replete with spectacular balconies.

If you’re coming to Amsterdam on December, you’ll see the flower market also sells green Christmas trees of all sorts and varieties.
