We camped at Caprock Canyons for 4 nights in our RV at Honea Flat campgrounds site 18. A hidden gem! The canyons are not as dramatic as Palo Duro but they are still spectacular in their own right. We really enjoyed the bison at this park as well.. They were literally in the campgrounds grazing. So cool! There was also a field of prairie dogs right next to our campground. We really liked the trails as well. My favorite was the Upper Canyon trail due to the views and the cave. Least favorite-probably Lower Canyon trail.. The only trail we didn't do was the Old Ranch Rd and that's because it looked like you have to leave the park to get to that trail? It's odd. The trails are long, but they connect so you can make a loop out of them and not have to walk back the way you came. When we were biking the Canyon Rim Trail, one of my tires went flat. I waited on the side of the road while my husband road his bike back to the campgrounds to get the car. A park ranger saw me, pulled over, and asked me what was wrong and if he could help. He even asked if I had enough water before driving away. How thoughtful! I really like the kindness and professionalism of the park rangers here. There is a small lake. We brought our kayak, but didn't use it because it was too windy. Technically you can swim in it, but we didn't.
