Truly an astonishing place. I rate this #1 of the southern Utah NPs: Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Arches National Park, Bryce and Zion. Please DO NOT FORGET to bring a map, you won’t have cell service for hours around the area, the best will be an atlas or hiking map because the gas station was out of them. The drive down the dirt road toward the canyon access takes an hour and once you arrive at the hiking trail it looks like you are just walking out into this expansive desert. Look for the piles of rocks to guide you. Check the weather first, if it rains the canyons will flood instantly and could kill you, also the water takes a while to drain out, and if the ground is wet your car can get stuck, luckily it did not rain, but some of the slot canyons were flooded. Also, go earlier in the day, because finding your way out in the dark and climbing up a mountainside and then wandering through the desert at night are adventurous, but so not cool.
