Mae Usu Cave has amazing formations of stalactites and stalagmites. With the passage of the Mae Usu stream, it is inevitable to ford into the cave's entrance. Not recommended to visit during the rainy season when the level of water may be too high to enter the cave. Tham Mae Usu's entrance is 20 meters wide and 5 meters high. There's sink hole on one side of the cave. To reach a wooden ladder that takes you to a fossil chamber within the cave, you have to follow a large stream. Then this same route takes you right back to the entrance, making the cave so unique. Once inside the cave, on the roof, you will see ventilation holes through which the sunlight rays enter the cave in the afternoon. The water in the cave is quite warm and reaches a temperature of up to 30 degrees Celsius. This water heating is believed to occur within the Earth's depths due to geothermal activity.
