It's pretty hard to miss the largest lake in the Glacier national park. Going to the sun road drives past it and there are some spectacular sights in store. Make sure to stop by at the lookouts, especially the ones that go down to the lake. If you're lucky, you'll find the waters completely still and mirroring the snowy peaks - it's picture perfect. Beyond spectacular. Yes, you can make a relaxing afternoon of driving along the lake, may be canoe or kayak near the Apgar village. Apgar lookout offers gorgeous areal view of the lake too. It's a good anchor point for a lot of the activities the park has to offer. We stayed here and the views are stunning. We did take a boat ride which was okay. The captain was nice and gave a brief history of the lake. The boat was comfortable and about 80 years old. It was nice to be on the water.
