The grand castle was built with the orders of England’s King John in the early 13th century. The twin gates stand at full height as massive structures. Visitors are provided with multimedia aided experience to the history of Ireland and Limerick which is followed by archeological viewpoint and then a tour is conducted for the courtyard and its fortifications. Exhibitions are also arranged upstairs from the café area which further enhances the interest of tourists.
