In the hike from Rifugio Lagazuoi and back down to Passo Falzarego, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There are mountain-top views, a gondola ride, historic ruins, and it has plenty of choices for each skill-set level.
One of the best hikes around is hiking to Lagazuoi Tunnels. This excursion starts at Passo Falzarego, the road pass that connects the valley of Cortina to Val Badia. Make sure you rent a helmet and a headlamp for the downhill through the tunnel before you start the hike. These can be reserved quickly from a booth in Passo Falzarego's parking lot. Skip the cable car and hike up paths 402-401 to the edge of Lagazuoi (follow directions to Rifugio Lagazuoi).
The scenery should make up for the uphill effort when you walk; you can see many iconic mountains of the Dolomites, including the Cinque Torri, Averau, Nuvolau, Marmolada, Tofane, and many more.
