Hanging Lake is a treasure of Colorado and a rare example of a geological travertine formation situated in the core of the White River National Forest Glenwood Canyon. The 1.2 mile (1.9 km) path is steep and rigorous, but gratifying when you see the natural beauty at the top. It is a National Natural Landmark and is popular among tourists because of its amazing beauty and gentle waterfalls in Colorado!
The lake is beautiful, and the views from the top of the trail are breathtaking. Make sure and take the time to hike the trail past the lake to the waterfall, it is worth the extra effort. Wear good shoes, and allow plenty for time for the hike up and down, as well as time to enjoy the scenery. The first 100 yards is typical of the terrain, so you can gauge you ability to complete the hike based on that. Take you time, you won't be disappointed.
