I have no idea how many times I've been on Fort Monroe, both as an active army post and as now a national monument. It is always good to return, but it's almost like visiting a ghost town. The views are fantastic and there is a sense of both time and place there. A visit to the museum is a must as is a drive along the shells of the coast artillery batteries that line the Hampton Roads side of the old fort.A beautiful pave trail as you run you all have the ocean at one side and the fort green areas to the other is around four miles with plenty of parking available.
