Downs Park offers a fishing pier, playground for children, two basketball courts and a wonderful view of Chesapeake Bay. For groups of up to 100 people, reserve one of the three large outdoor pavilions and one small pavilion for up to 50 people. There is a wedding garden, camping area for youth and the Chesapeake Room for rent. At the Bay Side Beach Launch and Locust Cove Launch, Downs Park offers amazing spots to start a kayak.
The park property has a rich history that the Downs Park Historical Society has preserved. The Downs Park Friends, Garden Volunteers, Volunteers-in - the-Park and Downs Park Quilters Guild are among the volunteer groups. Downs Park is open at 7:00 a.m. 7 days a week. to dusk.
The office hours of the visitor center are 9:00 a.m. P.m. 4:00 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Thursday and 10 a.m. 3 p.m. Saturday as well as Sunday. Downs Park, run by the Anne Arundel Department of Recreation & Parks, is a wonderful asset to residents of the county. The park is over 200 acres and truly has something for everyone. Trail is very dog friendly and even has a outdoor gym south of ranger station with dumb bells and whatever you need to get a quick pump in while out hiking. Beautiful views of the water. Great place for a leisure walk with family.
