If want to experience an amazing view of Berkely but you don’t feel like hiking, then Grizzly Peak is the place to go. Grizzly Peak is a summit in the Berkeley Hills area on the border between Alameda and Contra Costa county.
The peak was named after the California grizzly bear which inhabited the local area until the late 1800s. The area is within the boundaries of Tilden Regional Park and behind the University of California, Berkeley campus. Furthermore, the views are stunning from the top of the summit. You will catch the sunset here and if you are looking for a for solitude, check out the Northern pull-offs. The best time to get here and enjoy the silence is around noon to 2pm. You can enjoy having your lunch here and sit in your car!
