Landscape Photographer

Davide please introduce yourself to our audience.

My name is Davide, I’m 32 years old and I live in Bologna, a beautiful city in the north of Italy.

I’m a Computer System Engineer but my real passion is traveling. In fact, as soon as I can, I escape from the city and go looking for breathless places.

One year ago I attended an entry level photography course that gave me a new way to see and share what is around me. I’m in love with nature, landscapes, and aerial pictures.

Davide your photographs are truly magnificent. We’ve noticed lots Aerial shots! Why do you love them and how hard they are to make?

Some time ago I made my first experience of skydiving. While up in the sky I had the opportunity to see how beautiful is the world from the aerial point of view, so I decided to buy the DJI Mavic Pro drone. Using the drone is not difficult after some practice. Shooting with drone let you be creative while playing with lines and patterns of nature and landscapes.

So far, the hardest part of the fun is keeping updated with flight rules and… not getting attacked by seagulls!!! Last summer while flying over the coast of Portugal a seagull attacked my drone three times so I had to give up the flight session.

What technology/software/camera gear do you use to keep focused on what you do best, as you photograph?

The first camera I got is Fujifilm Mirrorless X-T10. For aerial shots I use DJI Mavic Pro drone. Both of them are light and easy to bring along but using the drone is more fun. For videos and underwater photos I use GoPro Hero 5 Black.

What is the most memorable trip you have had in recent memory?

Last February I made an unforgettable trip through Iceland, taking part in my first photography workshop.

It was an extraordinary experience that gave me the chance to improve my shooting technic and to fully live the beauty of this remote and pristine land, where nature shows all its magnificence in the form of northern lights, waterfalls, geysers. I fell in love with Icelandic wild horses.

Iceland is magical, powerful and every spot takes your breath away. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the drone before going to Iceland. If  I did have it, it would have been even more amazing.

We ask this question from in all our interviews. What advice would you give to someone embarking on their first adventure?

I always organize my trip taking care of every detail, especially regarding housing and movements so to make the most of the time. Moreover, I suggest to enjoy the typical way of life of the local people, to look for genuine places where tasting typical food. Sometimes they could look shabby but then unveil tasty, local and delicious food and interesting slices of life. I think that every place has its own beauty and can leave you a lot of that moment.

Closing Thoughts … How do you think traveling have changed your view of the world?

I think that life itself is a non-stop journey. But traveling is something that you get so much from under every point of view: culturally, spiritually, humanly. I think that the thing my traveling changed the most is the way and the attitude to face everyday problems. While organizing and during the journey something wrong is always behind the corner, and you have to face it out of your comfort zone, often having limited resources. Life is the same but I learned to see problems as a source of possible solutions.
